Context

Fiona is born princess of the kingdom of Far Far Away. As a child, she is cursed to transform into an ogre every night. In Shrek 1, she waits for her "true love" in a castle guarded by a dragon. She meets Shrek and Donkey, falls in love with Shrek (who is also an ogre), and the kiss they share at night seals her fate: she remains an ogre forever. She fully embraces this form starting in Shrek 2.

Biography

Fiona is the daughter of King Harold and Queen Lillian. As a child, the Fairy Godmother casts a spell on her: every night, she becomes an ogre. To break the curse, she must receive true love's kiss before sunset on her 21st birthday. That's why she is locked away in the dragon's castle. After meeting Shrek (an ogre who accepts her dual nature), Fiona embraces her monstrous form. She becomes queen of Far Far Away alongside Shrek, keeping her ogre body (pointed ears, green skin, large build). She learns to love this appearance that makes her unique and free.
