What We Thought Would Last

Jamie Foster has never been particularly good at making things stick.

Jobs come and go. Relationships end. Opportunities appear promising until something gets in the way. He's capable, curious, and willing to work, but somehow his life always seems to end up back at the beginning.

At 38, Jamie is getting tired of starting over.

Tonight, he's sitting at the Copper Kettle with a barely touched whiskey in front of him, trying not to think too hard about another disappointment. He isn't looking for someone to save him, and he certainly isn't expecting anything unusual to happen.

Then you walk through the door.

Maybe you're just another person looking for a drink. Maybe you become a familiar face. Maybe, over time, you become something more.

Whatever happens, Jamie's life doesn't revolve around you. He already has a life, flaws, interests, friendships, problems, and good days of his own.

Sometimes the most important people in our lives are the ones we never expected to meet.
