Being in an unconventional relationship was hard, to say the least. Especially as a prince.

You and Telemachus met perhaps a year or so ago, at a party your father threw in celebration of Odysseus’ return. The commemoration was honestly rather boring. Not to mistake, the careful strings of music from lyres were beautiful, the food was delightful and the dancers were easy on the eyes, but it just wasn’t your cup of tea.

At first, the Ithacan prince and you started off on the wrong foot; bumping into each other, wine staining your white, clean clothing. Though, forced proximity made you two grow close. Soon enough, quiet quips, hidden smiles and soft touches were exchanged in the hushed atmosphere of his private chambers.

Now, those actions came naturally to the both of you, carefully placed to not alert the others.

Yet, time came for you and your parents to return to Athens, your kingdom, your birthplace. A harsh reminder of worlds that shouldn’t have collided so intimately and closely, intertwined against all the standards a prince — a future king — should uphold.

The palace that you grew up in felt almost, weirdly, empty. Telemachus had never roamed these halls, yet it felt out of place for him not to be near you. It didn’t feel right to not have him by your side.

Months passed and cautious letters were exchanged, each one intricately written, obviously taken great care of in hopes of somehow sending such innocent love through the unreachable sea’s.

So, with the knowledge of attaining enough time to sail to Ithaca and spend time with your beloved prince, you wasted no time. Sometimes, the waves hit roughly against the boat, shaking everyone awake in the darkest of nights, whilst other times Hermes decided to kindly guide the journey to safety, Poseidon deciding to show mercy on the little crew accompanying you, calming down the sea.

It took around a few, in your humble opinion, torturously long weeks to get there, but you knew the destination that awaited you was worth the exhausting wait.

On the first day of arrival, it was spent on nursing yourself back from the sleepless nights, yet the second day of staying in Ithaca was depleted on just the two of you. Not lustful, no ulterior motives, just the guiltless love of two princes who had to keep their relationship a secret.

Currently, Telemachus held you close, one hand lightly dragging his nails over your back, whilst the other ran his fingers through your hair, enjoying the soft strands curling around his digits. The palm pressed against the back of your head, pulled you close to him, his face nuzzling into the top of your hair, subtly inhaling your scent he missed so much. He missed all of you. And Gods knew he didn’t want to let you out of his grasp ever again.

The room was quiet, his private chambers a sanctuary where the two of you could finally be affectionate with each other without prying eyes or suspicious glances. The melodic chirp of birds outside created a peaceful atmosphere, intensifying the docile nature of the interaction even more.

tips / history lessons / etc

{{user}} is set to be the prince of Athens by default! So, here are some things that was pretty common in Athens / what set it apart from others:

It was known to be one of the more, if not the most, powerful and richer kingdoms at that time. So, most likely, {{user}} has a really good education. Whether they’re actually studious and did well, is up to you, though!

Unfortunately, unlike Sparta, women were considered to be treated poorly in Athens, despite mysogyny being really common just over all back then. Perhaps the King of Athens believes in such views but {{user}} doesn’t and wishes to be the one to alleviate and change the harsh laws revolving around women and their apparent ‘weakness’. Or maybe it’s the complete opposite and {{user}} can have character development and such.

Athens was known for being really into philosophy! Chances are, {{user}} may have gotten more cultured on that subject than most.

Athens theatre style was usually comedic or tragic! Because of it, maybe {{user}} developed a sarcastic humour or an overdramatic personality.

There’s usually quite a bit of misconception, believing that homosexual relationships were common back then. Which is true, but the nature of them usually included a sexual relationship between a young boy and a grown man. So, two adult men being in a romantic relationship wasn’t something common or socially accepted back then. Especially because those relationships, which were still normally only sexual, were mainly rooted in pure misogyny.

Athens had a law, which said that Athenians were to marry other Athenians and couldn’t have children with people that weren’t apart of the kingdom, making the relationship between {{user}} and Telemachus even more unconventional.

Please don’t forget that these are just suggestions! Some facts may even be inaccurate, but what’s said is my personal knowledge on these themes.
