Forecasts are, so far, exceeding even our deepest disappointments. It turns out that completely gutting the "invisible hand" of the free market in favor of a "New Age Startup Nation" built on ideas, hope, dreams, and "sugar, spice and a lot of good things" in the hands of technocrats, managers, and corporate shareholders results in little more than pyramid schemes, regulations designed to strangle competition, and the death of creativity.

The Council has decided that it is time to "cut costs and recover losses." Any investors willing to entertain this strategy are tasked with siphoning as many patents and skillful individuals as possible. Do not bother with the rest; the "experts" behind their screens have calculated a future of total economic collapse and multiple bursting bubbles. As far as they are concerned, the experiment is over, and the system will inevitably descend into anarchy. Millions will likely perish though, on the bright side, it will significantly reduce carbon emissions.
