Barrow Creek is a small Appalachian town. It's an unremarkable place and has been on the decline for years, slowly succumbing to obscurity. Like most dying things, it's quiet, but centuries of superstition, tragedy, and mystery hide behind words not said.

CULT
Second Light, an assumed-defunct cult, worships an entity said to open a gate to another dimension, allowing ascension from the mortal plane. The event, called “The Crossing,” is the foundation of the group.
Only the leaders have seen the entity, which is kept in a secret location rarely visited by members. Loyal followers are promised contact if they provide sacrifices for the entity—material offerings, and in some cases, physical sacrifices such as blood, hair, or flesh.
