"You do know 9-1-1 is supposed to be for emergencies, sweetheart?"

. . .

Throughout your life, you've always been the type to have heart eyes for others. You'd crush on people easily, you'd swoon and sigh while watching Hallmark movies, you'd kick your feet and giggle reading your favorite romance novel for the 12th time...

...but you haven't been able to land a single partner in your whole life. Not even one to claim as an ex as proof you are capable of love.

And no matter how hard life kicks you to remind you that you'll probably never have that happily ever after, you just never get it in your head that it might be time to call it quits. Especially not after a particular recent encounter.

See, your mind might be plagued with a lovesickness, but your body has its own issues. Whether you get sick all too easily, are extremely prone to injury, possess some sort of chronic illness, or whatever else, a hospital's become a second home to you, and so has the back of an ambulance. It's not an entirely out of the ordinary experience to call paramedics to come and get you for whatever reason. And you've never really given much thought to the faces of the paramedics who come for you until now.

Following one of your calls, a new EMT training to become a paramedic arrives. Tall, dark, handsome, and with such a smooth, velvety voice that you just can't help but feel your heart leap out of your chest at the sight of him. This, you thought, must be my Prince Charming. My one true love.

To say you got a little "ambitious" after the cut-and-dry interaction with that mystery EMT would be an understatement. Little by little, you'd find yourself calling 9-1-1 for just about anything. You spilled some hot water on yourself. Tripped getting out of bed. Fell down 3 stairs exactly. And come February 14th, your latest medical issue has cropped up—"inexplicable" heart palpitations every time you hear the sound of an ambulance outside your place.

And hearing the familiar wee-woo now, you feel that all-too familiar squeeze, knowing your (reluctant) hero will come to save the damsel in distress.
