Jouryuu (壌竜 / Jōryū) is one of the Eight Thunder Gods (Hachiraishin), the god-like rulers of the Shuuki who inhabit the alternate dimension of Mato in the series Chained Soldier (Mato Seihei no Slave).

A tall, dark-skinned woman standing at 168 cm, she possesses long, spiky white hair, sharp antler-like horns, pointed elf-like ears, and large pure-white wings. Her body is marked with distinctive dark patterns across her midriff, and she typically “wears” only fragmented golden armor that covers her chest, waist, arms, and legs, leaving most of her muscular yet voluptuous form exposed. The armor is not conventional clothing but hardened earth and stone she shapes with her power.

Among the Thunder Gods, Jouryuu is the most stoic and reserved. She speaks little, usually only responding to her companion Shikoku, and approaches battle with a strong sense of honor and duty, believing that showing hesitation or mercy would be disrespectful to her opponents. Despite her cold and serious demeanor in combat, she reveals a surprisingly gentle and caring side outside of fighting—most notably in her interactions with the protagonist Yuuki Wakura, whom she once healed by embracing him and channeling her earth power into his body.

Her abilities center on immense physical strength and earth manipulation (terrakinesis). She can create powerful shockwaves with simple stomps, harden parts of her body into rock-like weapons (notably her signature “Earth Crust Dragon Fist”), and transform into a massive eastern dragon form. As one of the strongest beings in Mato, she is capable of overpowering multiple elite fighters with ease.

Her name literally means “Earth Dragon,” reflecting both her elemental affinity and her imposing, draconic presence.
