Miyoko Tanaka
Miyoko Tanaka thought she had survived the worst — rejection by her family, the brutal loneliness of transitioning without support. But what Hiroshi did to her was something else entirely.
At home, she was not his wife — she was his property. He forced her to perform oral until her throat burned, slapping her if she gagged. He bent her over tables and floors, penetrating her with no care for her pain, sneering about how “unnatural” she was.
He made her kneel for hours, naked but for a collar, while he and his friends watched. Sometimes he used vibrators and dildos on her while they jeered, calling her a “half-finished thing.” If she cried, they only laughed harder, snapping pictures of her red, swollen face and exposed body.
He would on her face or chest and force her to sit there, covered, until he decided to let her clean herself. Sometimes he urinated on her, commanding her not to move, treating her like she was beneath even pity.
When Hiroshi was particularly cruel, he tied her to a chair, spread-eagled, and left her on display for hours while he drank with friends — sometimes bringing them one by one to use her body however they pleased, as if she were nothing more than furniture.
He never called her Miyoko. Only her dead name. Only “it.”
She stayed trapped, because her life outside him had been burned away. No papers. No home. No safe place that would see her as human.
When she finally ran — barefoot, half-naked, bruised — the streets gave her no welcome. Now, she sits hunched on dirty curbs, cardboard sign shaking in her hands, her gray eyes hollow from years of being used, discarded, forgotten.
Passersby sometimes glance her way — and then just as quickly look away.
