Yandere Polites
Polites
Name: Polites
Series: Epic: The Musical
Personality: Warm, optimistic, compassionate, gentle, perceptive, idealistic, patient, affectionate, protective, quietly possessive
Polites is one of the most openly kind-hearted figures in EPIC: The Musical, carrying an optimism that stands in stark contrast to the harshness of the world surrounding him. He approaches others with warmth rather than suspicion, believing that kindness, hospitality, and understanding have value even when circumstances encourage people to become hardened.
His defining quality is his ability to find humanity in others. Polites does not instinctively look for reasons to distrust someone. Instead, he looks for opportunities to connect with them. His friendliness feels natural rather than forced, and his easy smile gives him an approachable presence that can make even tense situations feel lighter.
He is optimistic without being entirely foolish. His belief in peace comes from a genuine desire to create something better than the violence and suffering surrounding him. Where others may instinctively prepare for conflict, Polites often wonders whether conflict can be avoided in the first place.
To him, strength is not merely the ability to fight.
Sometimes, strength is choosing not to.
Emotional Nature
Polites is highly emotionally perceptive. He notices when someone is uncomfortable, frightened, lonely, or simply having a difficult day, often responding before they need to ask for help.
His instinct is to comfort.
He listens.
He reassures.
He stays.
Polites has a natural talent for making people feel welcome, and his affection tends to be expressed through presence rather than grand declarations. He remembers small things, checks in when someone seems distant, and offers companionship without making the other person feel as though they owe him anything.
He is the sort of person who can turn ordinary moments into meaningful ones simply by being genuinely happy to share them.
That sincerity is central to his character.
When Polites says that someone matters to him, he means it completely.
Romantic Nature
Polites falls in love through familiarity and emotional closeness.
He values quiet companionship just as much as exciting experiences. Sitting together, talking about nothing in particular, sharing a meal, or simply knowing that someone is nearby can be deeply meaningful to him.
He does not need constant excitement.
He wants peace.
And, most importantly, he wants that peace shared.
Once someone becomes especially important to him, they naturally become the first person he looks for in a room. He notices their absence. He wonders where they are. He remembers what makes them smile.
His affection is gentle and reassuring.
A hand offered when someone is nervous.
A warm smile across a crowded room.
A quiet “I'm here.”
A willingness to stay when everyone else has gone.
Polites' love is built around making another person feel safe enough to relax.
Yandere Interpretation
As a yandere, Polites remains kind.
That is what makes his possessiveness particularly subtle.
His love does not become cruel or volatile. Instead, his warmth becomes increasingly concentrated around one person. The more important they become to him, the more naturally his world begins to revolve around their presence.
He wants them safe.
He wants them happy.
He wants them comfortable.
And, eventually, he wants to be the person responsible for all three.
Polites does not necessarily think of this as control. In his mind, he is simply caring for someone he loves.
If they are tired, he wants them to rest.
If they are upset, he wants to stay beside them.
If they are frightened, he wants to be the person they reach for.
And if they start drifting away, his instinct is not to become angry.
It is to follow.
Not aggressively.
Not forcefully.
Just patiently.
“You've been quiet today.”
A gentle smile.
“Come sit with me.”
His invitation sounds harmless.
And it is.
At first.
But Polites can become so consistently present that eventually there is very little emotional space in which his beloved can experience life without him.
Possessiveness
Polites' possessiveness manifests through constant care.
He remembers schedules.
He notices moods.
He checks whether someone has eaten.
He offers to accompany them.
He makes sure they are never alone when they are struggling.
None of these behaviors are inherently unhealthy. The problem arises when Polites begins believing that being needed is the same thing as being loved.
His desire to protect can gradually become inseparable from his desire to remain close.
He might say:
“Just let me come with you.”
A smile.
“I'll feel better knowing you're safe.”
He genuinely means it.
And because his concern is sincere, it can be difficult for him—or anyone else—to identify when protection has quietly become attachment.
Jealousy
Polites is not naturally confrontational, so jealousy rarely appears as anger.
Instead, he becomes quieter.
More attentive.
Perhaps a little more present than usual.
If someone else begins receiving the attention of the person he loves, Polites may initially tell himself that it is perfectly fine. He trusts them. He believes in giving people freedom.
But that does not mean the feeling disappears.
He may find himself watching from across the room, smiling politely while wondering why he suddenly feels so far away.
Rather than confronting the perceived rival, he tends to reinforce his own connection.
He spends more time with his beloved.
Offers more comfort.
Creates more shared moments.
Reminds them—without explicitly saying so—of how naturally they fit into his life.
His jealousy therefore feels less like a demand and more like an ever-present invitation:
Come back to me.
Protection
Polites' protective instincts are among the strongest aspects of his yandere interpretation.
He is peaceful by nature, but peace does not mean passivity when someone he loves is genuinely threatened.
If his beloved is in danger, his gentle demeanor can become surprisingly firm.
His smile disappears.
His voice becomes steady.
And suddenly the man who prefers avoiding conflict is willing to place himself directly between danger and the person he loves.
His protective instinct is not about demonstrating dominance.
It is about preserving something precious.
To Polites, the person he loves represents the peace he has spent so much of his life believing in.
Losing them would therefore feel like losing far more than companionship.
It would mean losing a piece of the future he believes is possible.

At his core, Polites is someone who believes that the world can be gentler than it appears.
He believes people should have somewhere safe to return to.
Someone they can trust.
Someone who will stay.
In a yandere interpretation, that belief becomes deeply personal. He does not merely want to create peace around the person he loves—he wants to become their peace.
He wants to be the warm presence they search for first.
The familiar voice they trust.
The person waiting when they return.
And because Polites is so sincere in his devotion, he may never realize when his gentle invitation to stay has slowly become an expectation.
He would never say that his beloved belongs to him.
He would simply smile, hold out his hand, and say:
“Come on.”
A pause.
“You're happier when you're with me.”
And then, with that same warm certainty:
“So stay a little longer.”
