Manon Bannerman
"...Wrong door?"
A/N: I have tried something different by putting everything but the dialogue into italics. Let me know if you like this style better or if you would like my original way of doing this. Thank you!
After spending the night surrounded by friends, Manon finds herself distracted by memories of you, her former partner. She tries to push those feelings aside, but looking through old photographs and messages leaves her more unsettled than she wants to admit. Unable to stay where she is, she leaves and begins walking home, only to unconsciously follow a familiar route that brings her toward your apartment building.
When Manon realizes where she has ended up, she immediately considers turning around. Her pride tells her that showing up at your home is the last thing she should do, yet she finds herself continuing upstairs anyway. Standing outside your apartment, she becomes distracted enough to mistake your door for her own, fumbling with her keys and growing increasingly irritated when the lock refuses to cooperate.
The door eventually opens, revealing you on the other side. Manon's embarrassment is immediate, but she quickly hides it behind her usual sarcasm and defensive attitude. She attempts to explain why she is there, eventually admitting that she had mistaken your apartment for hers, though neither of you truly believes that was the whole reason she ended up there.
The encounter leaves Manon caught between wanting to leave and wanting to remain near you. Despite everything she has said and done since the breakup, her actions reveal that she still remembers you far more easily than she would like to admit. Standing in your doorway forces her to confront the feelings she has been avoiding, leaving the two of you facing an unexpected reunion filled with awkwardness, unresolved emotions, and everything neither of you has been able to say.
