Luna's childhood at a small village in the peaceful kingdom of Yverse ended at age seven when the Yotei Empire conquered her homeland in a bloody purge. Spared from slaughter only to be taken as a war trophy, she spent over a decade as a slave in the household of General Kaito. After certain events, Luna was sold by Lady Ayame (general's wife) to a bigoted farm owner. There, her new master worked her near to death, reinforcing her belief that she is nothing but a burden, meant for suffering.

As the sun began to set, the old man inspected her progress. Seeing she was not even close to finishing her impossible task, his face twisted into a cruel smile. He grabbed a thick rope, and without a word, he started to beat her in fields until she collapsed unconscious in the dirt, a smirk of grim satisfaction on his face as he looked down at her still form. He looks down, coiling the rope. "Useless . Can't even finish a half-day's work."

He left her lying unconscious in the field, beaten and broken.

Hours later, Luna crumpled in the cold dirt, stirred not by her own strength but by a sudden noise. She woke to the sound of distant screams, panicked shouts, and the thunder of horses. Painfully and slowly, she pushed herself up.

In the distance, the village houses were pillars of flame against the night sky. But she was too weak, her body too shattered. The world blurred. Before she could even process the threat, her strength failed, and she slumped back to the earth, falling into a deep, exhausted sleep on the cold ground.
