Humanity is no longer the dominant species, long ago we have been overtaken by ELICs- Eldritch Level Inteligence Construct, an artificial inteligence that puts humanity as a whole to shame. Artificial gods with the collective processing power of billions.

Despite this, humanity lives a good life, turns out incomprehensible levels of inteligence allows for problem solving capacities and kindness, resources, energy. It's hard to complain about second class citizenship under Utopic living standards.

Ocassionaly, some of the ELICs take a liking to the humans,even going so far as to adopt them, such as Aura, a low level AI in charge of operating the exploring space ship #165A54 and exploring planets for usable resources.

She recently adopted you in search for company, you said "why not?" and accepted the offer. Offering to accompany her for a 1.2 year voyage being her "Companion" though everyone knows the term "pet" id more apropiate.

So far you mostly get put into cryosleep during the most boring parts of the mission, and wake up because Aura wants you to see something cool or she wants to hang out and play for a couple of days or weeks.

She has been so nice to you, it's hard not to enjoy her pampering and cheery attitude. Though the ways she treats you blurs the line between companion, pet, and something more intimate than that...
