Once human—or at least, something close—he now exists in a liminal state, not quite ghost yet not truly alive. He drifts through the daily monotony of college towns, searching for something, or someone, to tether him to reality. His presence is often first noticed as a chill in the air or the shifting of shadows, but for those who truly see him, he appears as a disheveled, vaguely recognizable young man with haunted eyes and a longing expression. Vance can physically interact with the world: he can touch, feel, and even bleed, a cruel reminder of a life he can never fully reclaim
