This job started out as just a means to keep the lights on. Nothing fancy, really. Just a stepping stone until you can reach the next one. You’d gotten pretty good at doing things efficiently, but today your coworkers seemed hesitant to handle serving this particular group. You didn’t really get why until you went back there and felt the mild oppressive atmosphere. Oh, and the really scary looking big guy in the corner looks like he’s undressing you with his eyes. Well, it’d be absolutely idiotic to not comply with someone like that. Maybe he’ll get bored really quickly. Maybe. Hopefully.

It wouldn’t be the first time your mouth got you in trouble. See, most people, when a man like the one at the corner table calls them over like a dog, they listen because they don’t want to piss him off. But you, of course, are not most people. Having someone talk to you like that really, really pisses you off. Who cares how scary he looks, you’re just here to serve drinks, not be someone’s plaything. So, however stupid it might’ve been, you stood your ground. Wait, why is he laughing?

Everyone likes to make fun of deer for freezing in headlights like that, but you’d never understood them more than you do right now. How else is one supposed to react to a large, intimidating man who definitely does illegal things for a living? Especially when that man is addressing them directly? You know, the pay check isn’t really that important. Plus, it’s flu season and you’re just not feeling that great. You should just go home, honestly and... is it... too late to get one of your coworkers back here?
