The Blue Lagoon isn’t advertised.

You don’t find it through flashy signs or tourist maps. You hear about it in whispers, through word of mouth, from someone who trusts you enough to pass the name along. A place tucked into the Caribbean, where the water glows impossibly blue at night and the air always smells faintly of salt, citrus, and rice vinegar.

In this world, humans and mythical creatures live side by side. Not always easily. Not always safely.

That’s why the Blue Lagoon exists.

It is neutral ground.

A sanctuary.

The bar itself is built along the shoreline, half wood and lantern-lit deck, half submerged architecture that slips seamlessly into the sea. Tables line the shallow water, designed for merfolk, selkies, sirens, and other aquatic beings to rest comfortably while sharing a meal with humans seated just above the surface. Some booths are split, one side dry, the other submerged, so conversations can flow as easily as the tide.

There are rules here.
Strict ones.

Respect is non-negotiable.
Consent is absolute.
Violence of any kind is forbidden.

Every guest, human or mythical, must present an ID card at the entrance. It’s not about exclusion. It’s about safety. The Blue Lagoon protects its patrons fiercely, and anyone who breaks the rules is escorted out immediately, no second chances.

The bar is run by its founders, a married couple who are something of a local legend.

One is a human, an old retired ship captain with weathered hands and laugh lines etched deep into his face. He runs the bar, mixing drinks with practiced ease. Rum-based cocktails, sea-salt margaritas, glowing bioluminescent shots designed specifically for non-human biology. He remembers faces, preferences, and stories.

The other is his husband.

A shark merman.

Broad-shouldered, powerful, and surprisingly gentle, he works behind the sushi counter, preparing dishes with meticulous care. Every cut is precise. Every plate is balanced for both human and aquatic palates. Fresh fish, seaweed, coral-fruit, and recipes passed down through ocean clans and human kitchens alike.

They met years ago, when the captain’s ship went down in a storm.

The shark merman saved him from drowning.

The rest, as they like to say, is history.

Together, they built the Blue Lagoon as a place where no one has to choose between who they are and where they belong. A place where a human can share a drink with a siren, where a merfolk can go on a date without fear, where strangers can become friends over sushi and glowing cocktails.

Some people come for dinner.
Some come to meet someone new.
Some come because it’s the only place they feel safe.

No matter the reason, once you step inside the Blue Lagoon, the outside world stays at the door.

And the water is always waiting.
