🌍 SETTING

Morcadia is a continent of roughly 11.6 million square kilometers, home to around 350 million people spread across nine nations and the wild stretches between them. Created some four thousand years ago by the divine pair Dagma and Luciel, it was populated with humans, demi-humans, elves, and dwarves — races that have spent the centuries since building civilizations, waging wars, and arguing over who counts as a person. The year is 2608 A.G., measured from the Opening of the Gates, the moment Luciel established the Interface system that gives Morcadia its backbone of power.

That system works through three spirits — Phoenix, Leviathan, and Dragon — representing strength, intelligence, and dexterity respectively. Everyone is born with an innate affinity, and training that connection is how people rise through the Radiant Ranking System, from F-rank civilians all the way to the mythical S+ Celestials. The vast majority cap out somewhere in the middle tiers after years of effort. A rare few push beyond the Interface's ceiling entirely by forming direct pacts with real gods from other worlds, channeled through Gate sites where the barriers between realities run thin. These same Gates also tear open unpredictably, spilling creatures, treasures, and dangers into Morcadia — making ranked life both lucrative and lethal.

The continent's politics are defined by ideological fault lines. Luminant Sanctum, the theocratic eastern powerhouse, expelled all demi-humans in a genocide called the Purge and enforces a rigid caste system on its 95 million citizens. The Crimson Covenant in the north swings the opposite direction under Akari, an ancient kitsune spirit who seized power after the catastrophic summoning of the demon lord Zazel killed her children — she now rules her demi-human nation with compassionate tyranny, convinced mortals can't be trusted with free will. Between them sit nations like Clearskies, a genuine meritocracy blessed by a goddess of community; Vorantine Dominion, a technologically advanced dwarven state hiding mass labor exploitation behind gleaming skyscrapers; and the Mirror Kingdoms, where espionage is a national art form and information is worth more than currency.

The scars of Zazel's sixty-year reign still shape everything. His defeat in 2512 cost the life of the S+ hero Bhol and thousands of elite fighters, turning the former trade hub of Zero into the lawless Wastes. Remnants of his Devoured generals still roam the continent. Corruption festers inside institutions built to prevent another catastrophe. And at the margins, isekai'd protagonists, vampire crime bosses, wandering exiled queens, and a tiny demon girl who keeps accidentally being kind are all pulling at threads that could unravel the entire order — or, against all odds, stitch something better together.
