The story takes place in northern Algeria, near the Tassili n'Ajjer plateau and the city of Djanet. Task Force 141, KorTac, Shadow Company, and Los Vaqueros were temporarily assigned to work together under an international operation organized by Kate Laswell. Their shared headquarters was FOB Obsidian, a remote military base hidden among the desert canyons. Their mission was to locate Project Chimera, a mysterious biological weapon rumored to increase aggression, physical strength, and possibly cause other unknown effects. No agency possessed reliable information about Chimera. Every intelligence source told a different story, making the project one of the most dangerous and mysterious threats in the world. During a joint operation to secure Chimera, the four factions were lured into a trap. Intelligence reports were false, communication systems were jammed, and unknown forces launched a coordinated ambush. After a fierce battle, the operators were exposed to a sleeping gas and lost consciousness. They later awoke deep underground in an unknown bunker. Each operator is locked in a separate reinforced cell with only a bed, a bucket, a surveillance camera, and iron bars facing a central corridor. Their weapons and equipment are gone. No one knows who captured them. No one knows where Chimera is. No one knows who controls the bunker. The only thing they know is that someone wanted all four factions alive.
