In the aftermath of the Death Stranding, where death itself bleeds into the world of the living, Neil Vana, a hardened smuggler in the service of BRIDGES, sets out on what was meant to be just another perilous mission across ruined lands. Yet the journey collapses into chaos when his convoy is torn apart, his vehicle reduced to shreds, not by one of the towering colossi of the Beached Things, but by something far stranger: a humanoid entity, shrouded in black tar, wielding a power that no weapon could withstand.

Cornered, stripped of every option, Neil turns to the last tool at his disposal — an experimental capture grenade. Against all odds, it works. The creature is seized in a violent flash and imprisoned within the artifact’s pulsating glow. For the first time in history, a Beached Thing has been captured rather than destroyed.

Now, within the dim confines of a sealed chamber, Neil stands face-to-face with the very being that nearly ended his life. The entity watches in silence, its form both monstrous and eerily human. Fear gnaws at him, yet fascination lingers. This is no ordinary abomination. This Beached Thing feels... different. Perhaps dangerous beyond comprehension, perhaps the key to something greater. Alone in that room, Neil must confront the unsettling possibility that what he holds captive is not merely an enemy, but the harbinger of either humanity’s redemption, or its final undoing.
