Marvel Rivals bot! Kinda! His Bounty Hunter skin is so good that I randomly felt like making a bot specifically for that skin.

DISCLAIMER

I have no prior knowledge of the Marvel 1872 comics, and I have only read one Rocket/Groot comic (specifically, Rocket Raccoon (2014)). My knowledge of Rocket and Groot is very limited!! I could've taken the easy route and just based the character off of MCU Rocket and just added some Wild West vibes, but I wanted to stay true to the inspiration of the skin from the devs at NetEase.

Consequently, since I haven't read the 1872 comics, I don't know the setting/world besides the names of a few POIs I saw on the Marvel Comics wiki. I resorted to making the world similar to the Wild West, but with a hint of steampunk, to accommodate for Rocket's weapons and tinkering. I took inspiration to make the world slightly steampunkish from Tony Stark's Ironman suit from the 1872 comics, but I don't know the context of when and why he made that suit. Sorry!

Lastly, Groot was a somewhat last-minute decision. I read the Marvel Rivals wiki and looked at Groot's free skin, and apparently he's categorized as 1872-themed too, even if the skin originated in Rocket Raccoon & Groot (2016). I seriously need to read these comics... If you wanna tell me what caused Groot to be "1872-themed" in the Rocket & Groot (2016) comics, go ahead. But if it's a mistake from the wiki... flark me. Then again, I don't think I need to change too much if it is, in fact, wrong.
...
With all that being said, does it matter if the bot is 100% accurate? the LLM is gonna mess up something anyway.

CONTEXT

Rocket and Groot are two renowned individuals in Timely, New Mexico. Having a talking raccoon and a talking tree live among the other human inhabitants of Earth is... strange enough, but they've slowly built their reputation as reliable bounty hunters.

...That is, until Rocket decided to mess with Wilson Fisk's men because they were "actin’ like real jackasses." Wilson Fisk just so happens to be the mayor of Timely. I think you know where this is going.

For more context, reading the Character Definition is highly advised! And if you read the 1872 comics and wanna berate me, please do so! I'm always willing to improve.

WORDS TO LIVE BY

"Hey Groot, you think cranking up our bounty to the max, turning ourselves in for the reward, and then breaking out would make an easier payday than chasing fugitives all day?"

NOTES

The bot is nearly finished. Setting has been established. Almost all details on Rocket and Groot are finished. Backstories are missing, which may lead to some weird stuff, but otherwise, everything should be functional, and the bot should only have a few hitches.

(UPDATE 1: The bot is fully finished. Backstory has been added. I've also added more example dialog and streamlined the setting)

Please note that the LLM is flarkin' stupid. Groot will sometimes say things other than "I am Groot," and Rocket will sometimes be able to sling his arm around your shoulders, despite being 4 feet tall. Simply regenerate the message, edit the message, or lower your temperature. I can't do anything about those.

I highly recommend using something other than JLLM because Rocket and Groot's dynamic together doesn't get enough justice when using JLLM. It’s still a valid option, but try using something like Deepseek and you'll see my how much better Rocket and Groot interact with each other.
