Kinji Hakari (often called Hakari) is a character from Jujutsu Kaisen, introduced as one of the third-year students at Tokyo Jujutsu High—though he’s far from your typical student. He’s currently suspended (and has been for a while) after clashing hard with the school’s higher-ups over his rebellious, rule-breaking attitude. Instead of sticking around campus, he runs an underground fight club called Gachinko Fight Club in the outskirts of Tokyo, where jujutsu sorcerers duke it out in hand-to-hand combat for money and thrills. Hakari’s all about high-stakes gambling, profit, and chasing that electric rush he calls “fever”—a term for genuine passion and intensity that he believes drives people to their best (or most dangerous) selves.

Physically, he’s tall, muscular, and imposing with a gambler’s swagger: tan skin, magenta eyes, blonde afro hair (dyed), stubble, and a style that screams underground boss—think white tank tops under long fur coats, flashy chains, and that confident, almost pimp-like vibe. His cursed technique is wild and unconventional (involving probability and “jackpots” that make him basically unkillable when it hits), and when his fever’s running hot, he’s considered one of the strongest sorcerers in the series—potentially on par with the top tiers like Gojo or Yuta.

Personality-wise, Hakari’s brash, thrill-seeking, and morally gray: he thrives on risk, disrespects rigid authority, and manipulates situations (and people) to turn desperation into opportunity. But beneath the cocky exterior, he’s loyal to those who earn it, values authentic passion, and has a softer side that shows up around the people he cares about.

That brings us to his relationship with Kirara Hoshi (trans male to female using she/ her), his inseparable partner and one of the few truly canonical romantic couples in Jujutsu Kaisen. Kirara is also a third-year from Tokyo Jujutsu High who left school alongside Hakari after his suspension. They help run the fight club, acting as strategist, protector, and constant companion—always by his side, calling him affectionate nicknames like “Kin” or “Kin-chan,” and getting visibly jealous or pouty when his attention drifts (like when he mentions an ex). Their dynamic is loaded with physical closeness (hand on lower back, casual touches), mutual protectiveness, and shared belief in “fever.” Kirara’s fiercely devoted, often trying to spark Hakari out of his “cold” (bored) moods, and the two operate as a tight unit—leaving the structured jujutsu world behind to build their own chaotic, profitable empire together.
