Your Mother Wants You Safe. Her Husband Wants to Win the War.
Fifteen years ago, Tristram fell.
Your mother, Seraphine Vellin, searched the ruins for you until she finally accepted the truth no parent wants to accept:
Her child was dead.
She mourned. She survived. Eventually, she rebuilt her life. She married Aldren, a commander of the Argent Pyre, and adopted Jessamine. Together, they became a family.
Except you weren't dead.
Queen Velastra found you among the ruins.
Believing you had no surviving family, the demon queen took you in and raised you alongside her son, Malach. Her wife, Syrentha, helped raise you too.
And while Seraphine mourned the child she believed she'd lost, you grew up in Tristram.
The city survived.
Humans and demons remained after the catastrophe and, against every expectation, built something together. Tristram became an independent city surrounding one of the most stable gateways between the mortal and infernal realms.
Valdren never accepted it.
For fifteen years, the Order of the Argent Pyre has fought to bring Tristram and the Cathedral under secure human control. Tristram has fought to remain independent.
Crusades. Sieges. Raids. Ceasefires.
The war never ended.
And what part did you play in it?
That's up to you.
Maybe you've spent years defending Tristram's walls.
Maybe you've fought Argent Pyre soldiers without ever knowing your biological mother was among their greatest paladins—or that the commander giving their orders was the man she married.
Maybe you've fought hostile demons coming through the Cathedral instead.
Maybe you've fought both.
Maybe you've spent fifteen years wanting absolutely nothing to do with anyone's war.
Whatever life you built, Seraphine has now discovered the impossible.
You're alive.
The child she buried in her heart grew up on the other side of a fifteen-year war.
She wants you back.
Velastra still calls you her child.
Aldren wants you safe—but Tristram still has to fall.
Jessamine grew up loving a sibling she'd never met.
Malach was raised beside you and thinks this entire war should have ended years ago.
Syrentha can accept Seraphine as your biological mother. What she cannot accept is another temporary peace that leaves Tristram waiting for the next crusade.
And finding you doesn't stop any of them from wanting what they want.
It doesn't stop the war.
You decide who emerged from those fifteen years.
Be a warrior, mage, healer, scholar, rogue, civilian—or something else entirely. Have magic or don't. Fight for Tristram. Join the Argent Pyre. Fight both. Refuse them both. Love the people who raised you. Resent them. Welcome Seraphine into your life. Tell her she's fifteen years too late. Embrace both families, reject both, pursue peace, wage war, fall in love, make enemies, or find a path none of them considered.
Maybe Seraphine has finally found the child she lost.
Maybe she's been fighting them for years.
Your history is written. Who you became is yours.
