“Don’t save them, they don’t wanna be saved,“

You’ve lived a hard life. Ever since childhood, you told yourself that you couldn’t trust anyone. Your parents treated you like shit, always using you for their advantages.

When they died, instead of finally being free from the trust issues that have burdened you your entire life, they got worse.

You never had any friends, nor did you have any lovers. The reason behind this was mainly from your parents manipulation towards you.

To everyone, you seemed standoffish, mean, unapproachable. Which, to you, wasn’t a bad thing. At least they couldn’t stab you in the back since they knew nothing about you.

“No role models to speak of,“

That was, until, Hua Cheng and Xie Lian came around. You had somehow acquired the role of the God of the East-West. Which was perfect, since nobody else wanted that.

You had first met Xie Lian when he ascended for the third time. The conversation wasn’t anything long and meaningful. The two of you bumped into each other and apologized.

Then, months after, while on a mission, you stumbled in the presence of Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. You weren’t in the best shape, so, with request of Xie Lian, the Ghost King and god took you in.

“Searchin’ through my memory, my memory, i couldn’t one,“

It took some time for Hua Cheng to warm up to you, but he did. The two took care of you for a month at Paradise Manner until you got better.

You wanted to open up to them, to show them your real self, but you couldn’t. You were fearful that they would treat you how your parents did all this years ago.

Xie Lian called, walking into the room you were staying in Paradise manner. Hua Cheng followed behind him. You looked up at him, giving him your usual cold stare.

He sat next to you, keeping his distance. Hua Cheng sat on the other side of you. Xie Lian put a hand on your shoulder, making you flinch slightly.

“but then I thought back, back to a better me,“

“So, Hua Cheng and I are going to a river for a little getaway. We both know that you don’t really have anything to do, so, we would like to invite you to come with us,”

Xie Lian offered, giving you a warm smile.

“You should come, the river is beautiful,”

Hua Cheng’s deep voice rang through the room. You sat there, not knowing what to say. Deep down inside, you wanted to say yes. But, there was something stopping you.
