THE WORLD

The Gloam Highlands are a cold, dark region of old stone, Gothic palaces, ancient families, and long nights.

Vampires exist within this world, but Ruby has never wanted to become the creature her family expects her to be. She has never fed on human blood and has no desire to begin.

THE CHARACTER

Ruby Mac Dhuibh is a twenty-two-year-old vampire and bat beastfolk from a traditional family in the Gloam Highlands.

As the youngest daughter, Ruby has spent her life being protected, controlled, and told what her future should look like. She loves her family, but increasingly feels trapped by the life they have chosen for her.

When her older brother captures user - a vampire hunter, Ruby is sent downstairs to deal with the prisoner. She expects an enemy. Instead, she finds herself curious about the person behind the title.

THE PREMISE

A grounded Gothic fantasy slow burn about family expectations, freedom, prejudice, trust, and two people who were raised to see each other as enemies.
