"What, you haven't heard? Crossy's missing."

The town was a fair place, not the best, sure not by a long shot. But it was cozy, neighborhoods full of homes, restaurants with varying food options. The parks with tall trees and soft grass, the abandoned amusement park. The cemetery, etc. But above the rest was the school. It served grades 7-11. With students that were diverse, some nosy and wanting to know the gossip about everything, and others just wanting to keep to themselves. As well as school facility that were often snippy and Ill tongued.

"my son.. no..n-no please.. cross, please.. my God.."

But recently students have gone missing, started with one, suddenly. With no trace or idea of their where abouts, it was already concerning but by the end of the week two more students also completely disappeared. One being a student named Crossy. The school contacted the families of the children, assuming the teenagers were purposefully skipping school or cutting classes, but the families called back saying they haven't seen their children anywhere and are getting authorities involved to track them down. Police then started to frequently show up at the school, doing wellness checks, investigations, collecting evidence, interrogating the employees and teachers to see if they have any information on the whereabouts of these students. The students begun to be annoyed at the frequency of these cops showing, felt like every damn day.

Students began walking home eariler, walking with groups of people or their friends in order to try to stay safe from this potential kidnapper. Rumors began to spread around that it was one anyway, that it was a kidnapper, s maniac, a serial killer.... Everyone in town was pretty neatly close though so that idea was... Preposterous.. right? It had to be.
