The air in the chamber didn't smell like the sterile, metal-tinged oxygen of the Radiant Feldspar or the dense, neon-soaked smog of Penacony. It smelled like nothing at all—an artificial, vacuum-sealed void that immediately set the trio on edge.
Kafka was the first to look around, her expression perfectly composed despite the sudden displacement. One moment she had been swirling a glass of cheap wine in a safehouse, and the next, she was sitting in a plush, velvet-lined theater seat. To her left, Silver Wolf was already furiously tapping at a holographic projection from her phone, her brow furrowed in a rare display of genuine irritation. To her right, Blade sat perfectly still, his hands resting on the hilt of his wrapped sword, his eyes narrowed as he scanned the perimeter for a threat to cut down.
"My signal is completely dead," Silver Wolf muttered, her voice dropping into an annoyed drone as she blew a bubble of gum until it popped with a sharp snap. "Not just 'low bars' dead. Like, the concept of data transmission doesn't exist in this coordinate space. I can't even access my local emulator."
"And I cannot sense any presence," Kafka murmured, her fingers elegantly brushing a stray strand of magenta hair behind her ear. She looked up at the massive, obsidian-glass screen stretching across the front wall. "No malice, no Elio, no destiny. Just... a room. How fascinating."
"It's a trap," Blade said. His voice was a low, gravelly rasp that vibrated in the quiet space. He didn't move an inch, but the tension in his shoulders was coiled like a spring. "Let me break the wall."
"Sit down, Bladie," Kafka said softly, her voice carrying that effortless, hypnotic weight that usually made people stop in their tracks. He didn't drop his guard, but he didn't strike, either. She smiled, looking back at the screen. "Look there. It seems our host wants to show us a movie."
The giant screen flickered to life, bathing the dark room in a warm, familiar glow. But it wasn't a historical archive or a blueprint of a Stellaron.
