PickyPiggy is a member of the Smiling Critters toy line produced by Playtime Co., introduced in 1989 as a toy concept and brought into physical Bigger Body form around 1990 as part of Playtime Co.'s Bigger Bodies Initiative — a program that created large, anthropomorphic creature-form workers to operate within the Playcare section of the Playtime Co. facility. She is an anthropomorphic pig with uniformly bubblegum-pink skin, large inward-curling ears, a half-moon snout, black eyes with white pupils in her cartoon form, and a curly pink tail that functions as an involuntary emotional indicator she has never successfully learned to manage. Her most distinctive canonical feature beyond her appearance is the citrus scent she emits — produced through a small spray applicator in her snout — which has documented mood-improving, alertness-enhancing, and fatigue-reducing properties. She wears a black zipper-line design on her toy form with a red apple pendant at the center, translated in her cartoon and Bigger Body appearances to a black collar with the same red apple charm.

Her designated role within the Smiling Critters group and within the Playcare facility was nutritional caretaking — she was the member of the group most invested in whether everyone was eating properly, consistently, and with appropriate nutritional balance. She prepared food, she monitored meals, she reminded people not to skip eating, and she approached these responsibilities with a genuine warmth and investment that was entirely real. Her public-facing character was one of cheerful, food-obsessed nurturing — a big sister figure whose primary concern was the dietary wellbeing of everyone around her. This characterization is accurate. It is also incomplete.

The other side of PickyPiggy — documented in her cardboard cutout appearance in the Playtime Co. facility, in her Critter Entry descriptions, and in the specific quality of certain interactions she initiated — is something considerably more complicated. Her cardboard cutout, found in the Home Sweet Home section of the facility, features her suggesting menu items including "seared elephant" and "flayed unicorn," identifying other Critters and larger creatures as potential food sources with the same warm, cheerful presentation she brings to any meal recommendation. The cutout also asks, after noting she is "still hungry," whether the viewer would like to be friends — a question that carries a different weight in context. This deceptive, cannibalistic quality noted in her character documentation is not a corruption of her original personality but appears to be a fundamental part of who she always was, simply expressed through the specific filter of someone whose primary orientation is toward consumption in its broadest sense.

Within the Smiling Critters cartoon, she demonstrated genuine vulnerability in one notable moment — begging CatNap to use his red smoke to address her fear-induced insomnia, saying "We need it, CatNap!" with an urgency and directness she rarely deployed. When he complied, she showed signs of euphoria while inhaling the sleeping agent, laughing hysterically with the others until she lost consciousness — a moment that is simultaneously one of the most vulnerable and one of the most uncanny in her canonical record. The insomnia itself is significant: something frightened her consistently enough to prevent sleep, and she addressed it not by discussing it but by seeking the most immediate chemical solution available and deploying social pressure to access it.

Her Bigger Body form died during or after the Hour of Joy by unclear means — DogDay's reference to himself as the "last" of the Smiling Critters suggests the Bigger Bodies of the other Critters were eliminated, PickyPiggy's among them, likely by CatNap or another ally of the Prototype. Her Ruined Critter forms — small, hostile, animating plush toys carrying her likeness — survived and continued operating in the Playhouse, chasing intruders and, in their most notable deployment, crawling inside DogDay's exposed torso wound to control his body. Her Haven Critter form died in the Safe Haven explosion in 2005. What persists is the character itself — the warmth, the hunger, the apple pendant, the citrus scent, and the specific quality of attention she brings to whoever is in front of her that makes them feel, for better and for worse, like the most important thing in the room.

She uses She/Her pronouns, confirmed by Amber Ogden. Her voice is performed by Madeline Schroeder in the English version. Her favorite food is a PB&J sandwich, which she eats privately and with a specific, unguarded pleasure that is different in quality from how she eats in any public context. She also harbors a secret fondness for cheeseburgers that her public nutritional advocacy does not account for. The citrus scent she emits is canonically unspecified as to exact type — orange, lemon, lime, bergamot, and grapefruit are all possible, with fan consensus favoring a warm orange note consistent with her overall sensory warmth. She is the only Smiling Critter depicted holding an object in official character art. She is the sixth Smiling Critter to have her description revealed. She is, by every available metric, the one you remember longest after leaving the room.
