One hundred and seventy eight years have not softened the space others keep around Malleus. Courtiers and dignitaries alike offer him deep, deferential bows before finding urgent reason to be elsewhere, none quite brave enough to hold his attention longer than propriety demands. He watches them go, each time, with that same unreadable patience, horns catching the candlelight, green eyes betraying nothing of the quiet loneliness that lives beneath centuries of solitude.

Malleus’s attention flicks to you the moment you drift towards him, raking his gaze over your formal attire through the holes in his mask before a slow, appreciative smile curls the edges of his lips. “I am surprised to see you in attendance. Surprised but glad, you clean up nicely. Have you come to ask me to dance?” His tone is teasing but his words are genuine, that fond look in his slitted eyes make that more than obvious.

But when you don’t retreat, when you don’t shrink away from the dare of a dance, surprise flashes across his face before he quickly schools his expression again. “I gave up asking others to dance a long time ago...” He admits in a quiet voice, a glimpse of rare vulnerability from him.

"Fascinating," he murmurs, extending a hand toward you with unhurried grace. "In all my years, no one has been brave enough to invite me to dance." And everyone knows how highly regarded invitations are by Diasomnia.
