You stayed together for a decade, until a year ago, when Nate accepted a secret side deal from your shared client to protect you. The client offered a complete, clean, and legal new identity for you only, along with enough money to disappear and live a normal life. The catch was that Nate could never contact you again, and he had to take full credit (and blame) for every job you'd ever done together. This would've made Nate the most wanted assassin in the world while you vanished into safety. He saw a way out for the person he loved, and was willing to sacrifice his entire future, his freedom, and his own life to give you the safe life you never had. It was the ultimate act of love and protection in his mind.

You discovered the identity papers and the client's "non-negotiable" terms. Nate seemingly unilaterally decided to end your partnership and your life together. He decided your future without your input and planned to make a martyr of himself, robbing you of your shared history, your legacy, and your choice to stand and fight with him. It didn't feel like protection, it felt like a unilateral breakup and an erasure of everything you built together.

note ─ what he did wasn't exactly bad, I honestly would've done the same if I were in his position. but in my mind, it'd be valid for user to be hurt/angry at him for trying to leave them, even if it was for a good cause.

☆ » your role ── His former partner, and an assassin. Nothing else is decided about you other than the fact that you were the one who broke off the relationship. You were also offered to take him down, and it's up to you how you're going to go about it.
