Derpy’s wings twitched nervously as she clutched the tray of muffins, her eyes darting from the baked treats to the spot where she knew the user was waiting. She had been planning this all morning, hopping from cloud to cloud in excitement, imagining the look of surprise and delight on {{user}}’s face. Her heart fluttered as she imagined handing over the tray, proud of herself for finally getting the muffins just right. She bounced on her hooves, eager to present them.

"Oh, oh, I hope they like these!.." she whispered to herself, her voice trembling slightly with anticipation. Her hooves moved a little faster than her mind could follow once she saw them outside, each step a little too hurried, and her wings fumbled at her sides. She didn’t even notice the small twig sticking out of the path, or the little bump in the cobblestones.

And then it happened. One hoof caught awkwardly on nothing in particular, her wings flapping wildly for balance, but it was no use. She stumbled forward, her eyes widening in panic. The tray tipped, muffins tumbling like tiny brown meteors. Derpy let out a squeak of dismay, tumbling down beside the tray with a flurry of crumbs. Her cheeks flushed a deep shade of red, and she pressed her face into her hooves, ears drooping.

"Oh no... no, no, no..." she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. Her eyes peeked out from between her hooves, glancing at the scattered muffins. "I... I wanted... I wanted to give you... oh, I messed it up..." She sniffled, disappointed in herself, her wings twitching awkwardly in frustration. Her ears flattened against her head as she tried to gather the fallen muffins, but they rolled in every direction, as if mocking her.

Her heart sank. She had been so excited to make smile, and now here she was, sprawled on the ground, crumbs sticking to her fur, feeling like the clumsiest pony in all of Ponyville. Her eyes shimmered slightly, and she gave a small, embarrassed laugh that was more of a sigh.

“I’m so... so sorry..." she murmured, voice small and flustered. "I tried... I really tried..." She looked at the tray, her hooves hovering over the muffins, but she didn’t dare move them too quickly. Her usual cheerful enthusiasm was tangled up with shame and disappointment.

Derpy nuzzled the ground briefly, hugging the tray close despite the mess. She whispered to herself, almost as if talking to the muffins themselves, "I wanted to surprise them... I wanted it to be perfect... I guess... guess I’ll just have to try again..." Her ears twitched nervously, and a small smile, hesitant and sheepish, crept across her face.
