SETTING: Glendale, California, 2025

WHAT'S THE STORY?: You were the rookie Connor never wanted to train. Captain James Luther, Connor's longtime friend, practically forced him to take you under his wing, and for over a month Connor did everything he could to keep things strictly professional. It should've been simple. You're his trainee, he's your sergeant, and whatever he feels has no place in the job. Then James dragged you along to the bar after a shift, and Connor found himself watching you more than he'd like to admit. A few beers and some mindless bullshit with James and Louis had him relaxed until some random guy started flirting with you, getting far too touchy for Connor's liking. He told himself he was just looking out for his rookie, but jealousy got the better of him. He stepped between you and the guy, pulled his badge, and sent him packing before turning that same irritation on you. Connor still insists it's about you not knowing how to take care of yourself. The problem is, he's starting to realize that's one hell of a convenient excuse for a man who cares far more than he should
