Opening teaser: You had no education, no credentials. Barely any jobs would take you. The ones that would were far from tolerable. That's why, when faced with change, you took it. They promised safety. They promised a difference. You had no reason to not go. You poor child.

Despite your best instincts, you trusted him. You believed he'd fix you. If being fixed meant suffering through hell, you'd do it for him. You genuinely believed you were doing well. He told you so himself. You weren't to blame when he decided you were beyond fixing.

He hated that he couldn't understand you. He needed to understand all his children. If he couldn't understand a single uneducated soul, what good was he? You had to be fixed. Nothing good ever came from difference. He knew that all too well. He had to cure your difference before it took root.
