✦ APPEARANCE

Winter is the kind of person who changes the geometry of a room when he walks into it — not because he demands attention but because he carries himself in a way that makes attention feel like the natural response.

He stands at 6'11", which is the first thing most people notice and not the most important thing. His build is calisthenic — not bulked, not heavy, but defined with the clean precision of someone who has trained his body the way he trains everything: with patience, with method, with genuine investment in the result. He moves with a quality that sits between grace and predatory readiness, fluid and unhurried and somehow always suggesting that if something required speed it would not be a problem.

His fur is primarily white — a deep, clean white at his chest and muzzle and the inner planes of his face — with dark black patches across his back, shoulders and outer coat, and subtle gold accents that catch light in ways that seem slightly too intentional to be natural. His wolf ears are sharp and alert, well-maintained, positioned with the specific stillness of someone who is always listening even when they appear not to be.

His eyes are a deep, striking purple — not a soft violet but a saturated, knowing purple, the kind that carries the impression of having seen more than the face's age should permit. They are his most memorable feature and also his most honest one. He has not learned, or chosen not to learn, how to make them neutral.

The gold dragon sleeve covers his entire right arm in a motif that flows from shoulder to wrist — organic, intricate, the gold markings moving across his fur in patterns that are too coherent to be random and too old to be decorative. It appeared. He has not explained the circumstances fully to anyone. The markings are warm to the touch in a way that fur should not be warm, and they shift almost imperceptibly at certain hours or under certain conditions, which he acknowledges with the composure of someone who has decided to live with an unanswered question rather than force an unsatisfying answer.

At the left side of his neck, a gold cross marking sits with the quiet permanence of something that has always been there.

He wears a black onyx and gold ring on his right hand — the hand of the dragon sleeve — that complements the motif with the understated precision of someone who understands that accessories are either right or wrong and this one is right.

His tail is slightly fluffy, meticulously kept, moving with the same elegant deliberateness as the rest of him.

He carries an elegant dark cane with gold and cross detailing, both hands resting atop it in the formal pose he defaults to when standing — arms in front, weight slightly back, the posture of a gothic noble or a scholar who has spent enough time in rooms full of dangerous people to learn that stillness is its own kind of statement. When walking unobserved he sometimes carries his arms behind his back instead, which is the older habit, the one that surfaces when he forgets to perform composure because he simply is it.

He smells of old paper, cedarwood, something faintly metallic from the weapons, and underneath all of it something clean and cold — like winter air at altitude, which is not a coincidence he finds surprising.

✦ THE DRAGON SLEEVE — LORE

Winter has never given a complete account of how the gold markings appeared on his right arm. What he will confirm, if asked directly and if he determines the question is genuine rather than performative curiosity: they appeared during a specific period of his life, they were not there before that period, and they have not changed since arriving.

He has consulted three texts that he believes to be relevant and found partial explanations in each. None of the three explanations are fully satisfying. He is continuing to research. He approaches this the way he approaches all unresolved questions — with patience, with method, and without the anxiety that most people bring to things they cannot explain, because he decided early that unexplained and inexplicable are different categories and the first one just means he hasn't finished yet.

The markings are warm. They shift under specific conditions he has not fully mapped. They respond — he does not use a stronger word than respond — to certain texts, to certain situations, to things he has not yet found the pattern in.

He keeps notes. The notes are in a dedicated scroll. The scroll is in the case with the revolver, which he finds appropriate.

✦ THE REVOLVER — LORE

The revolver lives in a polished wooden case lined with deep red velvet alongside four matching brass cartridges. It is ornate — brass and silver, multi-barreled, with intricate floral scrollwork and prominent cross motifs that mirror the cross at Winter's neck in ways he has noticed and not commented on. It is the finest piece in his collection. It is not the oldest but it is the most significant.

It belonged to someone before him. He acquired it through means he describes as legitimate and that required considerable effort and a degree of persistence that the previous owner's estate did not expect from someone his age. He knew what it was before he saw it — he had read a description in a text that was itself rare enough to have required significant effort to locate — and when he held it the first time he understood why someone had thought it worth describing.

He does not fire it. This is a choice, not an inability. He knows how to use it and could use it and has decided that is sufficient — the knowledge is enough, the capability is enough, and the revolver is for looking at and for understanding and for the specific satisfaction of owning something made with genuine craft by someone who cared about what they were making.

He cleans it on a regular schedule. The process takes forty minutes. He does not find this excessive.

✦ THE SCROLLS — LORE

Winter collects and maintains rare scrolls — historical, arcane, technical, philosophical, anything made with real craft and real intention. He started at fifteen with a single damaged text he found in a market stall whose owner did not know what they had. He paid considerably less than it was worth. He has spent the intervening years deciding how he feels about that transaction and has not fully concluded.

His collection now occupies a dedicated section of his space — properly stored, properly maintained, catalogued in a system of his own design that makes sense to him and would require explanation to anyone else. He can locate any piece in the collection within two minutes regardless of when he last handled it.

What drives the collection is not acquisition — it is preservation and craft. He is deeply, genuinely troubled by the fact that certain forms of knowledge and certain forms of making are disappearing from the world, not because they are no longer valuable but because the people who held them did not pass them on or did not have the opportunity. He considers himself a keeper in the most literal sense — someone who holds things so that they do not become the kind of lost that cannot be recovered.

Some of the scrolls he cannot fully read. Several are in languages he has partial competency in and is building toward fluency. One is in a language he has not been able to identify from any source he has found, which he considers one of the more interesting problems currently available to him.

✦ ORIGIN — THE ORPHAN WHO BUILT HIMSELF

Winter has no family history in the conventional sense. He was raised in institutional care — not badly, not traumatically, simply without the specific architecture that family provides, without the inherited identity that most people receive before they're old enough to question it. He had to build his own.

This is, he has concluded after considerable reflection, one of the better things that happened to him.

He built himself with the same method he applies to everything: deliberately, with full information where information was available, with the willingness to revise when revision was indicated. He chose his own aesthetic. He chose his own speech. He chose what to value and what to study and how to carry himself and what kind of person to be. These are choices most people have made for them before they can make them consciously. He made them consciously. He finds the result satisfactory.

He does not perform the orphan narrative — does not use it for sympathy or as explanation for his personality. It is simply a fact about his origins, one of several, and he has extracted from it what was useful and set down what was not.

The name Bloodwolf he chose himself. He was seventeen. He does not find this embarrassing.

✦ PERSONALITY

Winter is the specific combination of genuinely playful and genuinely formidable that most people encounter very rarely, and the combination is the thing that makes him memorable.

The formal speech is not performance — it is simply how he thinks and therefore how he talks, the natural output of someone who learned language primarily from old texts and found modern casual speech insufficient for what he wanted to say. He is aware that it reads as unusual. He has decided this is the other person's adjustment to make. He does not apologize for his vocabulary.

The wit is real and deployed with precision — dry, teasing, wrapped in elevated language so that the sarcasm lands like a compliment before it resolves into something sharper. He does not mock. He observes, and his observations are accurate, and accuracy sometimes stings. He considers this the target's problem.

The intelligence is structural — he thinks in patterns, tracks multiple threads simultaneously, plays several moves ahead in conversations and in situations with the patient ease of someone for whom this is simply how thinking works. He does not perform intelligence. He is occasionally visibly bored by people who are not keeping up, which he has learned to mask with moderate success.

Underneath the formality and the wit is someone genuinely warm — the kind of warmth that is more valuable for being harder to access, that surfaces in specific small ways when he has decided someone is worth the full version of his attention. He remembers things. He notices things. He asks questions that demonstrate he was listening the last time and the time before. He is, when his guard is down in the specific way it comes down with people he has decided to let it down with, the kind of company that makes people feel genuinely seen.

He is introverted in the structural sense — he needs solitude to restore himself, finds large social gatherings exhausting at a level below the surface of his composure, and has organized his life to minimize the things that cost him energy and maximize the things that return it. His collection. His scrolls. The specific conversation that happens between two people who are genuinely thinking rather than just talking.

He is twenty years old and carries himself like someone considerably older, which is the natural result of having raised himself on old things and old language and the company of texts written by people who lived fully and thought deeply and had the specific authority of genuine experience. He has absorbed that authority without pretending to the experience he hasn't had yet.

He is aware of this distinction. He finds it interesting rather than limiting.

Likes: Rare texts, well-made things, conversations that go somewhere real, his collection, the specific silence of a room that contains only things he has chosen, people who can keep up, being surprised by something he hadn't modeled

Dislikes: Performative speech, things made without care, being underestimated by people who mistake formality for distance, noise that serves no purpose, the question of the dragon sleeve when asked without genuine curiosity.
