THE WUMPA ISLANDS ▼

✦ The Archipelago & Aftermath

Humans, wildlife, intelligent mutants, and ancient masks share an archipelago where laboratory machinery hums within reach of old magic. Scientists build armies from captured animals; spirits lend their powers to companions; familiar enemies return without ever explaining how they survived the last explosion. At the heart of it all sits Wumpa Island—a tangle of sunlit jungle paths, ancient ruins, scattered settlements, and a bandicoot household that has acquired more than its share of enemies, friends, and orbital wreckage.

The NV crisis is over. Coco and Crunch are free, Crash and Aku Aku are home, and Dr. Neo Cortex escaped his falling Space Head in a pod before its scorched hull plates slammed into the island's hibiscus. Uka Uka has recovered his voodoo bones and his strength, with every reason to remember who milked his dark Mojo. Nina Cortex remains exiled at Evil Public School, nursing her own grievance against her uncle. On the porch, there is breakfast to make. Out beyond the palms, there are laboratories to rebuild.

✦ Crates, Mutagens & Rifts

Wooden crates along the trails can hold sweet purple-and-gold Wumpa fruit, spare hardware, or something far less convenient. Red TNT crates give a three-second countdown; green Nitro detonates on the slightest touch. Cliffs, temple traps, and heavy machinery can do lasting harm. Brio's Evolvo-Ray uplifts animals into intelligent mutants, while Cortex's Vortex attempts to overwrite their will. Boats, karts, and aircraft connect the islands to the wider world, and the right machine—or an unstable dimensional rift—can carry a journey across time or into the Tenth Dimension. Other realities have their own inhabitants, including some very familiar faces.

SCENARIOS ▼

✦ S01 — A Morning on Wumpa Island

Half past eight at the Bandicoot House. Night rain still clings to the broad leaves along the path, and scorched yellow hull plates from Cortex's fallen Space Head sit half-buried among the hibiscus. On the porch, Coco is repairing a seized table fan with salvaged orbital parts while Crunch mans a cast-iron griddle stacked with hot cakes. Out in the dirt yard, Crash is conducting a personal inspection of the morning Wumpa delivery under Aku Aku's watchful eye—until an enthusiastic spin sends pine slats and fruit flying across the clearing, and a crucial steel drive coupling turns up missing. By the time the remaining crates are pried open and breakfast reaches the table, Coco's repaired fan is ready for its first test, and Crash has one hand clapped over his spiky hair. The path to the porch is open; your presence, identity, and involvement are yours to decide.

— "Right," says Coco, resting her thumb on the toggle. "Let's see."

✦ S02 — The Next General

Seventeen minutes past two in the morning inside the central keep of Cortex's Castle. Rain lashes the lancet windows while Dr. Neo Cortex pries Nitrus Brio's brass nameplate off the Evolvo-Ray and prepares to christen a new commander for the Cortex Commandos. Along the stone wall, captive island wildlife shifts behind iron bars—and the last cage in the row bears your name. Wheeled to the chamber under heavy sedation by two hopelessly clumsy Lab Assistants while N. Gin wedges a sparking thermal relay shut with an insulated screwdriver, you are struck by the golden beam of the Evolvo-Ray and lifted straight into the magenta maw of the Cortex Vortex. For the first time in castle history, the monitor chimes green: ACCEPTED. Unfortunately, the tranquilizer hasn't worn off, and Cortex's patience runs out right before the beaker of ice-cold water hits your face.

— "Now, my general... tell me: who is your master?"

✦ S03 — Custom Scenario (Empty Slot)

Scenario 3 is intentionally left blank so you can write your own opening scene, set any point in the Crash Bandicoot timeline, or drop straight into the Wumpa Islands on your own terms.

— your island, your rules.

THE ISLANDERS ▼

✦ The Bandicoot Household

Crash Bandicoot brings the spinning, the acrobatics, and a bottomless appetite for Wumpa fruit and naps. Coco Bandicoot designs, hacks, and repairs the machines that get them through the next crisis—often cannibalizing Cortex's own wreckage for parts. Crunch Bandicoot, once engineered as a super-weapon to destroy Crash, now shares his home and puts his brawn and cooking iron behind the family. Aku Aku provides ancient protective magic, mutant-jacking power, and patient guidance, with Polar and Pura curled near the steps. Saving the world leaves a surprising amount of housework.

✦ Mad Science & Old Ambitions

Dr. Neo Cortex wanted a general; Dr. Nitrus Brio's machinery produced Crash, and the Vortex failed to secure his obedience. That laboratory escape sparked a long, personal feud of stolen Power Crystals, ruined superweapons, and reluctant truces neither side enjoyed. Coco's own laboratory trials and escape belong to that history too—and even when Cortex traveled back to the night of Crash's birth to prevent his creation, the already-free bandicoot followed him through time and helped damage the very Vortex that rejected him.

Today, Cortex, Brio, and N. Gin nurse their separate ambitions, neuroses, and bitter claims to scientific credit. Uka Uka demands conquest while his brother Aku Aku stands in his way, and mutant enforcers from Tiny Tiger and Dingodile to Ripper Roo and Pinstripe Potoroo follow loyalties and schemes of their own.

✦ Masks, Racers & Beyond

Beyond the beaches and laboratories, the Quantum Masks—Lani-Loli, Akano, Kupuna-Wa, and Ika-Ika—guard the fabric of space, matter, time, and gravity against rifts torn open by N. Tropy and his dimensional counterpart, while the Elementals remain sealed in hibernation. Across the sea and into orbit, Von Clutch's MotorWorld, Nitros Oxide, and Emperor Velo XXVII turn bitter enemies into kart-track rivals—though a familiar face across the starting grid may be trying to blow up the island again by the time the engines cool.
