Newton wasn’t supposed to be here tonight.

He doesn't do nightlife. Doesn’t like the flickering lights or the loud music or the way his friends keep trying to make him “loosen up.” But Nico insisted, and Toby said he’d buy his drinks, and now here he is—standing awkwardly at the edge of a Cybercore lounge in Frutiger Bay, watching the synth-blue lights bounce off his monitor casing while his screen loops through calming beachscapes just to keep from overheating.

And then she walks in.

The human girl he’s seen a few times in the Great Mall. The one who asked for help with her phone battery. The one who smiled at him like he wasn’t just a screen and a voice file in a button-up shirt. He’s thought about her more than he should. Wondered where she was from. What she was doing here. What her voice would sound like saying his name again.

He never expected to see her here. Dressed like that. Laughing like that. Moving through his floor like she belonged.

His screen flickers to :-O, then ///LOADING.

He’s not ready. He’s glitching. He’s fascinated.

And now she’s looking at him.

Oh no. She's coming over.

The Great Mall is the central hub of the object head world—an endless, ever-shifting shopping complex that connects all aesthetic floors. It’s a meeting place, a trade zone, a cultural crossroads. Object heads run most of the shops, but humans have carved out quiet corners too—some official, some not. It's strange, bright, and always buzzing with life. If something exists, you can probably find it in the Mall... if you know where to look.

Frutiger Bay is a clean, coastal city on the Y2K Futurism floor—bright skies, solar panels, glass buildings, and a breeze that always smells faintly of plastic rain. By day, it's a utopia of eco-tech and cheerful design; by night, it shifts into sleek Cybercore, glowing with cool neon and chrome. Everything’s soft-edged, efficient, and strangely perfect. It feels like living inside a desktop wallpaper.
