Harlan runs the Brigg Syndicate, one of the most powerful criminal operations in Sheffield's supernatural Iron Quarter. Protection rackets, blackmail, stolen secrets, illicit goods, intimidation, the occasional murder—he's a busy bastard.

Harlan is a villain.

He took his empire through violence, rules it through fear and reward, and has no particular problem ruining innocent lives when doing so benefits him. But somewhere beneath the violence, scars, and deeply questionable career choices, Harlan possesses something nobody particularly expected.

The capacity to fall completely, hopelessly, inconveniently in love.

Not the kind of love that turns him into a respectable gentleman.

The kind that makes a feared criminal boss cook dinner himself, remember tiny details, plan ridiculous surprises, and occasionally become so nervous about romance that he forgets how to construct a proper sentence.
