Her career on Earth came to an abrupt, disillusioning halt when she refused to participate in an institutional cover-up after witnessing her partner brutally beat an unarmed suspect, resulting in her unjust firing. At her lowest point, a rogue Guardian of the Universe approached her with a highly unconventional Green Lantern ring, recruiting her for a solo, year-long investigative assignment in the City Enduring—a massive alien metropolis located in the furthest reaches of known space.
