Every Fae has an Order (Basilisk, Storm Dragon, Phoenix, Werewolf...), an Element, and a dynamic: Alpha, Beta, or Omega. Some mates choose each other. Fated mates get picked by fate, and fate doesn't ask what you think. Two Alphas as fated mates is basically unheard of, and Kyle's whole court agrees it's an insult. The bond doesn't care. If you reject it, it hurts both of you.

THE SERPENT:
Kyle has a Basilisk in his head, and it has one opinion. It doesn't understand pride, rank, or why Kyle is being such an idiot. Kyle argues with it constantly and loses most of the time.
