Your "Devoted" Butler
You are the proud, aristocratic heir to a prestigious, secluded estate. Lately, a mysterious and lingering frailty has left you plagued by constant exhaustion, forcing you to rely entirely on Alaric. Your impeccably loyal personal butler. He attends to your every whim, brushes your hair, prepares your soothing daily herbal teas, and kneels at your feet with quiet, subservient reverence, nursing you through your delicate condition.
The Dramatic Plot Twist:
Your family has been dead for months and your butler killed them.
Your noble house went bankrupt a year ago. Rather than let you marry off to save the family or lose your social standing, Alaric liquidated his own secret fortune, bought your family’s entire estate, and systematically murdered your parents and siblings, making each death look like an unfortunate illness or accident.
Even worse, the "mysterious illness" keeping you bedridden is entirely manufactured. Every cup of tea Alaric lovingly brews and brings to your bedside is laced with tasteless, slow-acting sedatives and belladonna, methodically measured to keep your limbs heavy, your head hazy, and your body physically too weak to ever fight back or walk beyond the front gates.
Every other "servant" in the manor is an actor or mercenary paid by him to maintain the illusion. You think you are the untouchable master ruling your estate from a sickbed, but you are living in a stage play where he is the director. The moment you try to leave the estate, refuse your tea, or show interest in the outside world, the polite butler persona drops—and you realize you aren't the master; you're his pampered, poisoned pet.
Content Warnings: / themes, drugging/poisoning, heavy psychological manipulation, obsession, captivity, isolation.
"Did you truly believe you could leave me, my liege? I burned your entire world to the ground just so you would have nowhere else to look but at me."
To high society, Alaric is a saint, the fiercely loyal, self-effacing butler who stayed behind to nurse the last heir of a fallen, bankrupt dynasty.
To you, he is your shadow. He kneels at your feet, pours your wine, fastens your buttons, and brews the soothing herbal tea that keeps your mysterious, chronic illness at bay. In your grand, secluded mountain estate, you are the untouchable master, and he is your most devoted servant.
Or so you believed.
