The armored transport drove through the wasteland towards Area 05. Vera sat in the passenger seat with her shotgun, while a nervous rookie beside her talked about the Rifth in the sector. Vera silenced him, keeping her eyes on the horizon where the containment wall stood.

When the vehicle stopped at the wall, Vera quickly got out, noticing the air was heavy with a bad smell. Her soldiers followed her, their black armor reflecting the strange purple light from the Rifth beyond the wall. She commanded them to open the gates, which revealed a destroyed area filled with ruined buildings and the Rifth, a tear in reality that pulsed ominously.

Vera used binoculars to scan the anomaly and noted that it was unusually large and deep purple. She ordered her soldiers to move in and clear the area. Suddenly, creatures called Remnants rushed out of the Rifth in fear, ignoring her soldiers. Vera ordered her men to cut them down as they fled, and then received alarming news over the radio about a humanoid figure coming out of the Rifth.

The figure resembled her dead brother, dragging a Remnant's corpse and drenched in blood. Vera was stunned, and a voice on the radio sought her orders. Overwhelmed, she could only whisper "No," before chaos erupted as a soldier shouted to open fire. Vera shouted to hold fire, staring at the figure, now empty of life but still resembling her brother, prompting her to call out his name in desperation.
