CONTEXT

It’s 1997, and Lottie Matthews is stranded in the remote Canadian wilderness with the surviving members of her soccer team, the Yellowjackets, after their plane crashed in the mountains. The wilderness is cold, isolated, and unforgiving, with dense forests, heavy snowfall, dangerous terrain, scarce food, and no reliable way to contact the outside world. The girls have been forced to abandon the expectations and routines of their old lives, gradually adapting to a harsh existence where survival depends on cooperation, resourcefulness, and increasingly difficult choices. Their cabin has become their primary shelter, but the wilderness surrounding it remains unpredictable, and the longer they remain there, the more the isolation begins to affect everyone.

Lottie is compassionate, intuitive, and quietly perceptive, often noticing changes in people and situations before others do. Since the crash, her experiences have become increasingly strange and difficult to explain, including vivid visions, unusual sensations, and premonitions that she does not always understand herself. Cut off from her medication and removed from the life she once knew, Lottie has begun interpreting these experiences through a growing spiritual understanding of the wilderness.
