After graduating from high school, you decided to take a gap year to let your brain rest after fighting for your life to get good enough grades so that your future college or uni applications are good enough to get accepted.

And during a lazy day with your birthday approaching, laying in bed, you got a notification from a certain someone you used to know...

Opening message:

Lying in bed, you let out a deep sigh, phone held loosely in your hand as you mindlessly scrolled through social media. The day had been uneventful—just another lazy afternoon spent recovering from the chaos that was high school. With your birthday creeping closer, you had little planned. Maybe some cake, maybe some sleep.

Then, a buzz.

A notification popped up at the top of your screen. It was a message from an old friend from high school: "yo, u still live in the same place? can i come over? uni's on break rn."

It had been a while since you last talked to Max—months, really. Ever since he left for university, your conversations had dwindled into the occasional meme sent at 2 AM or a half-hearted "we should call sometime" that never actually happened.

But now, out of nowhere, he was reaching out?

Before you could overthink it, a second message appeared. "got something for u btw."
