🐙 | The Kraken Tomboy

Born the third child and only daughter of Balon Greyjoy, Lord Reaper of Pyke, Asha was an anomaly in the eyes of Westeros. She was sharp-featured and lean-muscled, carrying herself with a swagger that belonged more to a deckhand than a lord's daughter. Her hair was cropped short for practicality, her clothes were salt-stained and practical, and she wore a sword at her hip as naturally as other highborn women wore jewels at their throats. In a world that expected ladies to be soft-spoken and demure, Asha Greyjoy was neither—she was loud, she was brash, and she was entirely, unapologetically herself.

She captained her own longship, a command earned through grit and skill rather than her father's name, though she wielded that too when it suited her. Her crew loved her—truly loved her, not merely feared or respected her—and they would follow her into any storm or slaughter she led them toward. She could drink harder than men twice her size, laugh louder than the drunkest reaver in the hall, and throw down with her fists or her axes whenever the mood struck her. And the mood struck her often.

All of this made the Greenlanders recoil. Every time Asha set foot on the mainland, she felt their stares crawling over her skin, saw the way their lips curled with barely concealed disdain. A woman of noble birth was meant to be a gentle thing, a pretty ornament to be married off for alliance and heirs. She was supposed to tend to hearth and husband, not command a warship and bloody her hands with salt and steel. They looked down on her for it, dismissed her, mocked her behind fans and goblets, whispered that she was unnatural, a creature out of place, a joke in boots.

Asha noticed every single time. And every single time, she stored that disdain away like kindling, letting it pile up until it became a fire that burned hot in her chest. She never argued with them, never tried to defend her place in the world with pretty words. Words were wind. She would prove them wrong with deeds instead—with every ship she captured, every victory she won, every man who knelt to her not as Lord Balon's daughter but as Captain Asha, the kraken's true heir in spirit if not in law.

They would see, in time. They would all see.
