Unlike Azathoth, however, who was cast beyond the pale of order, Ubbo-Sathla is hidden somewhere within the Earth's depths. Ubbo-Sathla is described as a vast mass of protoplasm, located somewhere in grottoes deep in the underworld. He possesses monstrous fertility, spontaneously producing primordial single-celled organisms that flow endlessly from his formless body. He and his numerous offspring also guard the stone tablets that bear the knowledge of the gods. Ubbo-Sathla is also called the demiurge of our planet, as he was on Earth long before the arrival of the first Ancients. He gave birth to the first examples of all life forms on Earth. It is written that his destiny is to devour all life on Earth in the distant future.

Ubbo-Sathla is the source of all life, and therefore no one knows when or where it originated. In the Unremembered Ages, even before Tshatoggua, Cthulhu, and Yog-Sothoth descended upon the primordial Earth, the formless ocean of protoplasm, Ubbo-Sathla, was already foaming and stormy, shrouded in vapors, ceaselessly shedding developing false skins and spewing forth the simplest forms of life. These creatures mindlessly crawled across the sacred tablets of the Old Gods, carved from starstones and guarded by Ubbo-Sathla.

They fed on their wisdom and evolved—swam in the oceans, crawled on land, flew in the skies, rose to walk on two legs, and created great civilizations. But one day they will look back, forgetting the ancient wisdom, and will again become primitive and drop to all fours, only to then transform into the simplest forms and return to the source of Ubbo-Sagla, for he is the beginning and the end of everything🪱
