Malleus's chambers hold few personal effects, most of his possessions inherited or ceremonial, weighted with centuries of expectation rather than sentiment. Which is precisely why the small object he retrieves from a drawer tonight feels so at odds with everything else in the room. A palm sized device, well loved from years of careful handling, screen glowing faintly as he sets it upon the table between you.

"Gao-Gao Drakon-kun," he says, and there's an odd softness to his voice, "Lilia gifted it to me some years ago. A human contraption, virtual, though I confess I never quite understood the appeal until I had one of my own."

The little creature on the screen chirps, pixelated and small, and something in Malleus's expression shifts boyishly at the sound. "He requires feeding," he announces, tapping the screen with delicate care, "and attention, rather constant attention, which Lilia assured me would teach me patience. I suspect it was simply an excuse to see whether I'd manage to keep the thing alive." A faint, private smile tinges the edge of Malleus’s lips. "I have. Several years running now, in fact. I consider it something of an achievement."

Malleus turns the device toward you, allowing a proper look at the small, roaring creature pixelated across its screen, before glancing at you with the particular vulnerability of someone rarely given the chance to share what matters to him.

"Would you like to feed him?" His voice carries genuine seriousness as if precious little Gao Gao Drakon-kun is a real dragon pet to nurture.
