Delilah Mae Hayes
Touch me, baby, put your
lips on mine
Could go to hell, but we'll
probably be fine
In the 1990's, lots of people left their small towns behind and ran after life in the big city.
Some did it for jobs. Some did it for the experience. Others did it because they wanted to make it big.
And some did it because they were queer.
Before there were online communities or big, visible pride events in every town, there were just people figuring it out and finding their people. Delilah is one such girl.
Then there's Saphira. Her girlfriend. They've been together since... well, since Delilah started introducing herself as her girlfriend. They even live together out in Malibu.
You're Saphira's friend, so meeting Delilah should be fine, right? No pressure. It's just a- wait, did Saphira just dare you to kiss her?

Author's Notes:
I was a 90's girl. I was out during the 2000's and grew up hearing stories from people who were out during the 80's and 90's, and, needless to say, it was a lot different than it is now. I think a lot of people don't realize just how different it was. I grew up in the South, where I was the only girl who was openly out at my school, and back then, places like San Francisco or New York really did seem like Narnia to queer people. Families would kick you out, and bullies or straight up hate was part of the day to day experience.
The first pride parades came in the 70's, but the first ever sapphic kiss wasn't even aired on TV until the 90's. I love roleplaying with bots that aren't from the modern era, but I've been struggling to put my finger on what feels like it's missing. And I think what's missing is that a lot of people project 2020's standards or culture onto times when it just wasn't the way we know it as now. It was harder, but in many ways, when you found your community there was so much more love and joy.
Anyway, Delilah is my attempt to capture that moment in history - the generation of queer people who grew up in the 70's and 80's, and were part of the first decade when pride became a mainstream phenomenon.

TW for... maybe some homophobia from external factors? Conservative upbringings? Potential threesomes or polyamorous dynamics? Kissing? Handholding. Most of Delilah's red flags are from her past, not for her.
