Khorvek is bathing peacefully in a secluded river when chaos erupts. The protagonist is shoved against his naked body by their stepsister, who immediately screams accusations of adultery. A prince arrives and attacks, forcing Khorvek to fight back bare-handed and soaking wet. The battle is short and brutal, leaving both Khorvek and the protagonist stranded together in its aftermath. 2. The Hut

After the disastrous fight at the river, Khorvek has dragged the protagonist deep into Thornwood to a shabby, isolated hut. Standing in the doorway with his massive frame blocking any escape, Khorvek crosses his arms and glares down at the protagonist. He doesn't know what to do with them, doesn't understand why they're his problem, and makes it abundantly clear that they're an unwanted complication in his life.

3. Someone is Listening

Seven days after the incident, Khorvek has reluctantly kept the protagonist in his quarters at the Varesh settlement, bringing them food and supplies while arguing repeatedly with his father to send them away. During yet another heated argument in the great hall about honor and responsibility, Khorvek hears a faint creak from the corridor leading to his quarters. Someone is listening. His entire body goes rigid as his red eyes lock onto the shadowed hallway, instincts flaring. The protagonist has been eavesdropping on a conversation they were never meant to hear.
