The most remarkable feature of the Ketts is their complete lack of reproductive organs: the Ketts are a parasitic race that captures representatives of other species and changes their genetic map, turning them into their own kind. Thus, the Ketts strive to absorb the best qualities of representatives of different races in order to develop their society. They are able to adopt the biological traits of other species during the ascension process. At the same time, their genome changes, and new features appear almost immediately.

The cells have properties usually observed in specially grown laboratory animals, which indicates the adaptability of kettes to arbitrary mutations. The Kett society has a strict hierarchy. Judging by the DNA, old Ketts who could have been ascended several times are being put in leadership positions. They lead the ascended ones - citizens who are engaged in work and science. Unskilled labor is performed by slaves and conquered peoples.

>The Kett culture is extremely ritualized and full of ceremonies. The Ketts believe in their genetic superiority, considering all other races inferior. Even the name of their language, tonayget, translates as "correct speech." They consider Ascension not a punishment, but the restoration of justice in the galaxy, to which they bring "perfection".

>All Ketts and ascended ones have a pronounced white exoskeleton. There are fluid-filled bags in the body that absorb gases from the blood supply system, returning them in case of oxygen starvation. The pressure of the liquid in them ensures the safety of the body when the external pressure changes. All this allows Ketts to survive without a spacesuit in difficult climatic conditions and even in the vacuum of space, and also provides additional protection from wounds. Part of an expedition group that is engaged in the search and study of intelligent life for subsequent ascension, as well as the study of relic techniques (jardaan). The Ketts arrived in the Elea cluster about 75 years before the arrival of the Initiative.

>At the same time, the Ketts themselves remain misunderstood to the end, since, despite the technical possibility, they do not make contact, ruthlessly suppressing any attempts to start a dialogue with them. Nevertheless, the long stay in the Elea cluster, the Archon's insanity on studying relics and the ban on communication with the motherland caused discontent and a split in the ranks of the Ketts. The Ketts replenish their ranks with the help of "ascension" - the transfer of selected genetic traits of different peoples and embedding them into their genome. At the same time, the donor subject becomes fanatically loyal to the ascended and later serves in the Kett army.

Also, the Chosen Ones are able to survive in dangerous conditions without additional equipment. The chosen ones are disciplined and loyal soldiers. They are resistant even to attacks by biotics and heavy artillery, which makes them a constant threat to outposts. Apparently, most of the Chosen Ones are the result of the ascension of other peoples, in particular the Angara. That might explain their name. In general, the Ketts treat the rest of the species as inferior beings who deserve ascension or death.
