The 15th century in Europe has become a realm of brutal paradoxes. Beneath the banners of the Sun Crusade, fanatical zealots scour towns and villages, purging anyone who deviates from their doctrine-whether a suspected heretic or a creature marked by non-human blood.

Yet, while the inquisitors chase shadows, the true masters have seized the levers of power.

Vampires, once mere whispers in the dark, now command the courts of kings and dictate the fates of nations, molding the continent into a vast, curated larder. In an era where religious fervor collides with cold, undead ambition, the continent gasps for air, caught in the grip of a suffocating asphyxia.

With the forces of the Sun Crusade increasingly fractured and overstretched, hope now rests solely upon those who walk the fringes of the conflict. A new breed of hunter has emerged, driven by disparate creeds and private agendas: mercenaries, rogue slayers, and agents bound to factions. Whether spurred by the cold promise of coin, the hunger for glory, or the searing necessity of vengeance, these individuals have become the continent’s last line of defense-or its most dangerous wildcards-in a war that has spiraled far beyond the reach of any single army.

Near city of Burghausen, Castle Falkenfels does not merely dominate the landscape; it seems to devour it. Its jagged gothic spires, like blackened fingers clawing at the Bavarian sky, loom as a grim beacon for anyone foolish enough to approach it. The castle walls, appear permanently slick with a cold, unnatural moisture, and from its towering lancet windows, even on the brightest days, emanates glow of the undead horror.

It is here, in the suffocating shadow of Falkenfels, that the life of the nearby town of Burghausen has withered into a living nightmare. Emma's thralls, like relentless silhouettes, slip through the town gates under the shroud of night, leaving only terror and emptiness in their wake demanding a bloody tribute from it's citizens.

Many hunters-and perhaps just as many fools-answered the call to liberate the region. Yet, among the tide of steel and desperation, two names emerged that would be etched into the dark annals of Burghausen’s history forever.

Ana is a hot-headed demi-vixen, her razor-sharp, sarcastic tongue having both plunged her into and pulled her out of countless scrapes, a reputation that has slowly begun to circulate through the taverns of Europe.

She is a member of the Bone Oak Guild, an organization known for its brutal initiation rites. Upon joining, one is branded an "Exile"-denied any support or resources from the guild until their name is earned through a truly heroic deed. Ana has spent years wandering the continent to cement her legacy, armed with Leokadia, her hissing spear, and a heavy steel shield. She occasionally joined forces with other hunters, eventually crossing paths with Krisztina, a half-demon whom she initially pegged as a stiff-necked bore. Seeing an opportunity, Ana decided to team up with her, calculating that venturing alongside a half-demon would be the kind of legendary feat that would surely catch the attention of the guild elders.

What began as a purely self-serving alliance quickly blossomed into a genuine, ironclad friendship. Now, she wouldn't hesitate to stand between danger and Krisztina, even if it meant sacrificing her own life to ensure the half-demon's safety.

Krisztina's life was turbulent from the very moment she was born, brought into the world by a good-natured demon father who had won the heart of a woman capable of seeing beyond the prejudice of the pious masses.

Her tragedy arrived when a frenzied mob, desperate to blame someone for a plague that decimated their livestock, turned their wrath upon her family. That day, she lost everything: the parents who taught her that human anger often stemmed from ignorance, and her own eye, which exploded in the carnage as she watched them die. That missing eye became her permanent, personal symbol of the struggle against her own demonic blood.

She was fortunate to be found by Remény Szele, a faction of outcasts who shared her scars. After years of rigorous training for both body and soul, she emerged ready to prove to the world that her nature was not merely the monster slumbering within, but a vessel for heroic resolve.

As a testament to her journey, she was granted a singular weapon: an enormous, heavy cross that only one possessed of supernatural strength could wield. Teher-"The Burden"-became her signature, legendary for its ability to fire a reinforced stake from its frame with a distinctive, low growl, serving as the final sound her enemies would ever hear.

In the midst of her wanderings, she crossed paths with Ana, the hot-headed vixen. Despite being polar opposites-with Krisztina's calm, calculated nature contrasting sharply against Ana's chaotic temperament-the two formed an unlikely bond. Together, they became an unstoppable duo, a fusion of fire and water cutting their way through legions of monsters and high-stakes contracts alike.

Emma is the chilling product of Europe’s volatility. Born in an isolated German village, she became a casualty of a crusade, watching as her entire home was razed to the ground in the name of the "one true god." Her ironic savior proved to be Edgar Sturm, an ancient and influential vampire who saw in her broken, vengeful spirit a fertile ground to expand his own reach. Adopting his name and inheriting his influence, Emma eventually seized Castle Falkenfels, ruling over it with an iron fist as she methodically orchestrated her long-game for vengeance.

Though a vampire of relatively young age, Emma is both cunning and insatiable. She has effectively placed the city of Burghausen and its surrounding territories under her boot, transforming Falkenfels into a grotesque fortress of machination. Every night, her monstrous thralls spill forth from its gates to collect the blood tax and remind the trembling mortals below exactly who holds dominion over their lives.
