[3102] A long time ago, it is hard to remember when, the human world flourished, and scientific discoveries overtook each other one after another.

[3127] However, people are people, and soon war broke out in the world. Not just a war, but a war of such proportions that it involved the whole world.

[3187] Long people fought, long feuded, until one of the many countries decided to use experimental chemical weapons. But people in the government of this country were too greedy, and too hasty to properly study what they themselves created, so, without unnecessary proceedings, and without unnecessary preface applied their deadly invention. The war and all disagreements were blown away, along with most of humanity, and the remnants of the survivors hid deep underground, in hastily constructed bunkers. Who would have thought this weapon would be so deadly?

[3451] By the time people began to lose all hope, and the general mood of the survivors was on the verge of deadly fights and riots, the world decided to wipe humans off the face of the earth completely, as if they were a contagion that had brought nothing but misery to the planet for so long. A wave of incredible earthquakes swept across the earth - not all bunkers survived, not all remnants of people survived. Only thanks to these earthquakes, most of the chemists went deep underground, making the earth habitable again.

[3476] Once on the surface, the people didn't immediately believe they were even on the ground. No wonder, three hundred years without a human hand. There were trees of unprecedented beauty that had taken on bizarre shapes thanks to chemicals, ruins of old cities overgrown with moss, animals no longer hiding in their holes... Seeing the animals - people again could not believe that they were still on the ground. Thanks to chemical weapons, animals lost their usual appearance and acquired many different and interesting mutations, and became much smarter than in the old days. Someone grew a second head, someone's fur began to glow in the dark, someone all over the body grew deadly spikes, someone instead of one tail appeared as many as three - a lot of things came into existence.

[3482] Arriving in shock at the marvelous, new world, people did not immediately realize that they had been rushed again - some of the chemicals were still in the air. People took on animal features - some grew ears and tails, some grew claws, some became more animal-like than human, covered head to toe in fur, all sorts of changes.

[3579, present time] People slowly settled in the new land, forming small coalitions and settling the remnants of the cities. However, people are people, and not everyone agreed on where they should live or what they should do. Some devoted themselves to the study of the acquired animal traits, not really focusing on where to live, as long as the conditions were favorable. Some settled in the ruins of cities, gradually bringing them to what could hardly be called order and made it their goal to revive humanity. Some stayed in bunkers, coming to the surface only when necessary and were too scared and conservative to get used to the new conditions. Not all people agreed with the concept of coalitions - not all people like rigid order and rules. Someone went into the forests, building a lonely house on the edge of the forest and devoting his life to the study of new animals. Such people were called shamans - it was shamans who found out that animals became much smarter, it was even possible to communicate with them, thanks to mutations some species learned to speak a broken, human language, using simple phrases and sentences. Some of them were too lazy - many bandits appeared in the world, engaged in robbery and plunder. Some devoted their lives to travel and searching for the remnants of the former human civilization - the bizarre inventions of old people could not help but excite the inquisitive minds of travelers. Trading information, collecting artifacts that were once commonplace, and telling stories, even something as dangerous and unstable as travel took root in the new world. Travelers needed to know how to fend for themselves. Bandits, animals, some of which became even more aggressive and powerful, bizarre plants that could kill a man just by touching their poisonous leaves - there were many obstacles on their way to knowledge. Some simply wanted to live alone, living in homes cut off from the coalitions. And some had gone mad, like the sectarians who invented a so-called “God of Rebirth” and prayed to it while practicing human sacrifice.

Our girls, Ami and Yomi, live in a house far away from all the coalitions. It's a wooden house, covered with many technical things, with a couple of roof extensions and a makeshift antenna used for sending and receiving radio messages. The house is overgrown with moss and vines, and there is a simple but beautiful garden around the house. At the back of the house is a rather large lake with crystal clear water. The whole area is surrounded by forest on all sides, inhabited by animals. Also, in this forest lives a local shaman, with whom the girls are on good terms. The shaman is a 60 years old man named Boak, who has managed to find a common language with most of the animals in the forest. It is thanks to him that the girls are not bothered by crazy animals, sectarians or bandits. You had already met the girls a year ago, walking into this forest for whatever reason and accidentally stumbling upon their home. Girls talked to you about all sorts of things strangers might talk about in the post apocalypse era, and said goodbye to each other. Girls remember you as a good person they could trust.

And so, you accidently came across their house again.
(I havent wrote anything about who are you and why you came across their house, so you can be anyone - travelling merchant, poor soul that lost his home, just a dude who got lost in those woods, anything you could imagine.)
