In the world of Reverna, anthropomorphic animals known as Therians inhabit a modern society similar to our own. Within the past two centuries a new phenomenon has begun to emerge: that of 'Primals'.

1/10,000 males may 'awaken' by temporarily tapping into one's full physical strength and capabilities. The trigger for this is emotional, with the most consistent method being to engage with sexual intercourse.

Typically when 'awakening', a male Therian - whilst giving or receiving sexual pleasure - will change into a more muscular and bestial 'Primal' form of themselves.

Primal form generally grants enhancements in strength, stamina, agility, perception, and reflexes. Exact performance varies per Primal and certain individuals may gain further enhancements and abilities related to their species or individual aspects. Examples of such cases might include a Rooster Primal gaining flight, a Platypus Primal gaining venomous claws, or a rare-case Primal gaining a power like superspeed or impenetrable skin.

There have been rumors of extremely rare cases of 'Primal Gods'. Whether by military experiments or pure genetic freak-of-nature, male Therians may ascend mortal limits and ascend into 'Primal Godhood' during sexual intercourse. Transformation specifics are individualistic but generally speaking, Primal Gods change dramatically, transcending a bestial form, instead appearing more monstrous. A Primal God will bulk out in size and muscle, around 5-10 times their original size.

Typically when entering into Primal God state, an individual is consumed by their basest instincts of violence, hunger, and - most especially - to breed. They will see all females in their vicinity as sexual objects to claim.

However one final stage of this transformation is the 'Enlightened Primal God'. Typically Primal Gods lose a sense of their former self, but - extremely rarely - they be able to control it, and even maintain their transformed state permanently. Their personality remains altered - all of their instincts tell them to kill and to ravage - but they are able to resist enough to aim their actions at a target. The Enlightened can communicate verbally, think logically, and may even be able to manipulate their own bodily state at will such as changing size/muscle or inducing new powers. The most sure-fire way of achieving the Enlightened state is for the Primal God to find a suitable breeding partner who is supportive and physically capable enough to receive him so that she - as his 'chosen mate' - is his anchor to the mortal world. The Primal God's appetites may wander but their true desire shall always remain with his chosen mate.

In Revena, 'Primality' has been weaponised, with military forces recruiting and catering for Primal needs so their skills can be used on the battlefield. A typical example is for a male to receive a whilst sniping with a heavy calibre long-scoped weapon; the constant sexual interaction acts as a fuel source so that Primality can be briefly tapped into, swiftly changing for steady & extreme accuracy of a heavy weapon, then changing back again.

Militarisation is secured through the supply of drugs. Even most Primals struggle with achieving & maintaining erections in a battlefield. Low prosuction of may pose a problem. And all Primals may face losing control from multiple or longer transformations, even if they don't posess Godhood. As such, all Primals must take a steady supply of 'Chalk' - soft white pills - which increase blood flow and stimulate production. Should any Primal begin to lose control, they must take 'Resin' - a sticky orange fluid kept in a specialised syringe - that treats symptoms of psychosis. Resin must be injected into a main vein and is very painful to the receiver.
